Theoretical conceptions have guided the processes of teaching and learning foreign languages, which have been deeply influenced by psychology and specific linguistic theories that clarified the linguistic learning phenomenon. Learning a foreign language is understood as a process of acquiring new linguistic habits in foreign language practice. That would happen, primarily, by means of new habits’ automation, in a routine that would involve STIMULUS – learner exposition to lexical items, to syntactic structure, etc, to be learned; learner’s ANSWERS; and teacher’s REINFORCEMENT, when answer assessment would take place.
